City River Water Levels
*Last data sample was taken on May 21, 2012 at 10:15 AM *Please note all recorded levels in the above table were taken at the first street bridge. All values are measured from sea level. Brandon began maintaining detailed River water level records in 1906. The highest recorded level was May 15, 2011 at approximately 360.5479 meters (1182.89997 feet). Previously, the highest recorded level was approximately 359.66 meters (1180.0 feet) in 1923. The lowest recorded level was approximately 354.18 meters (1162.0 feet) in 1961. The stage at which flooding is considered to have occurred is 357.23 meters (1172 feet). Flooding begins to effect city parks along the river at about 1171 feet above sea level. (See photo below) There have been several historical floods where river levels were not precisely recorded at the time, so exact levels cannot be provided.
